When you’re not in the mood for happy pop music, what do you listen to at work? To be honest, we have our fair share of genres on our Spotify playlists. There is nothing quite like a good crime story or listening to a grizzly murder to get you through a mind numbing day of work. It fills in the time and distracts you from the drudgery that your day might entail. That is why we thought it would be fun to share our favorite crime podcasts on Spotify with you.
1. Serial

The OG of all crime podcast, this was the first non fiction crime podcast that sparked our interest in podcasts even before Spotify came along. Serial is an investigative journalism podcast hosted by Sarah Koenig. The first series investigating the case against Adnan Sayed was still the best in our opinion. The subsequent series, although might not be as sensational, is still worth listening to.
2. Fey Hollow: The Fairy Tale Murders

This is AXN Asia’s first-ever crime thriller podcast, an eight-episode series, following the story of two detectives, Agents Calandra Marchen and Ryan Choi, hunting down a sadistic serial killer who uses brutal fairy tale inspired rituals to murder his victims and fulfiling a dark prophecy.
You even get to decide on an ending with the podcast’s dual ending. What really sets this podcast apart from the others is its sensational quality of recording, it plays on all your senses with the sound effects used. Think of it as a cinematic style but for audio sensory.
3. Crime Junkie

Yes, we love true crimes! If you can’t get enough true crime stories like us, you know you are a crime junkie. What we like about the Crime Junkie podcast, is the storytelling part that is hosted by Ashley Flowers and Brit Prawat. The narration is straightforward, and it’s very easy to follow. If you are the type who cannot focus on listening to the story plot while working at the same time, Crime Junkie will be quite easy to follow.
4. Someone Knows Something

This is a podcast by Canadian award-winning filmmaker and writer David Ridgen, and it is also CBC Radio’s first true-crime podcast. This podcast follows an investigative journalism style, narrating a nonfiction story about a criminal cold case over multiple episodes. If you are a fan of true crime and cold cases, you will enjoy this too.
5. 48 Hours

If you like watching this American documentary by CBS, 48 Hours, you will like it on a podcast version too. The best thing about this is you can listen to it while you work at the same time.
6. Conspiracy Theories

The truth is rarely the best story. And when it’s not the only story, the truth deserves another look. While the real issue at hand is, do you believe in theory if it can't be proven? We have always been intrigued by conspiracy theories, so this podcast was quite close to what we were looking for.
7. Serial Killers

If you are a fan of the TV show, Criminal Minds, you will love this podcast. Serial Killers will take you on a psychological and entertaining approach to provide a rare glimpse into the mind, methods and madness of the most notorious serial killers with the hopes of better understanding their psychological profile.
8. Casefile True Crime

Another one of our favourite investigative podcasts that re-examines circumstances, investigations and trials of both solved and unsolved cases from all over the world, taking you through the details of each crime. Entertaining and enlightening, this podcast will leave you wanting more.
