The Mid-Autumn festival is on its way, and mooncakes are ready for festive time! If you're in the mood to buy some mooncakes this year, why not try something different? We have put together a list of 8 unique, cool looking mooncakes that would make the experience of eating a whole lot better or as a good gift.
1. Minion Mooncakes
The first thought that came to our minds was “are these banana flavoured mooncakes?” If you are a banana-hater you will be glad to know that they are not. Each set comes with 4 lotus seed mooncakes and 4 sweet potato mooncakes.
The 2 most adorable Minion characters – Stuart and Dave with their light-up goggles were the first that caught our eyes. We even bought a set for ourselves as collectibles.
PS: We couldn't buy it online so we ended up buying it from Cold's Storage instead.
2. ChangHoSek – Oriental-style tingkat collection
They took the concept of ‘dabao’ (taking-away) to the next level, instead of having it packaged in a traditional box packaging, the traditional tingkat is used.
This tingkat comes in tiers of two or four, based on the number of mooncakes you are purchasing.

3. The Marmalade Pantry
Eating mooncakes with style can leave a deep impression especially when fashion comes into play. The Marmalade Pantry is packing their mooncakes in two limited-edition handbags, designed with a sophisticated and modern take on traditional elements of Asian design, with woven rattan webbing and scarlet red PVC leather.
4. JW Marriott Singapore South Beach
This mooncake box draws inspiration from the Chinese character "moon" (月), and two mooncake boxes are presented together, they form the chinese character for "friendship" ( 朋 ). We thought this is a brilliant concept, which holds a deeper meaning when celebrating this festival.
The mooncake boxes are available in two colours – Blue Blossom, a marble box encased with royal blue cherry blossoms as well as the Peranakan Teal, a vibrant option that comes with motifs.
5. Conrad Centennial Singapore
Can mooncakes really go all-in glamorous? Well, Conrad Centennial Singapore did it with their Limited Edition Faux Crocodile Leather jewellery case, giving off a classic sophistication and contemporary flair.
This year they are introducing two new specialty snowskin mooncakes – luscious Honey Osmanthus and Açai with premium Dates & Goji Berries. Making their return are their signature Royal Hazelnut Crunch and popular Green Tea snowskin mooncakes as well as the Sweet Potato in Crispy Filo Pastry Mooncake.

The Luxury Box that looks like a briefcase, will provide a luxurious way to enjoy Mid-Autumn. Lift the gold locks to reveal four large Bird’s Nest and Gold Leaf mooncakes, two 100ml Journey cocktails by Manhattan (crafted with Buffalo Trace bourbon) and two crystal whiskey glasses. Similarly, the mooncake boxes can be removed to hold a bottle in its centre, glasses in its drawer-like cases and other condiments for one to tote around picnic essentials in style.
